History of Larimar Gemstones

Larimar is only found in the Dominican Republic and was discovered in 1974 by Miguel Mendez and Norman Rilling, a Peace Corps member. Miguel named the stone after his daughter, Larissa, appending it with "mar" meaning the sea.
